Mr. Cameron will discuss the use of embedded Linux in traditional dedicated devices and as a platform for more traditional applications. Embedded Linux can be used for enterprise information systems infrastructure, including point of sale appliances, data entry devices, information kiosks, thin clients, dedicated application servers and middle tier business logic layers. He will present product concepts for object-oriented tools that simplify programming applications with RDBMS using embedded Linux in a client or server role.
Mr. Cameron will explain the differences between Linux as an embedded systems platform and as a general purpose desktop or server platform. He will demonstrate Lineo's tools for embedded Linux system configuration and image size reduction, targeting x86 and PowerPC platforms.
