June -- An introduction to blogging
Glenn Stone to will discuss blogs and their significance. Blogs have been around since September 1997 when Rob Malda cobbled together the first one, Slashdot. Now they're running presidential campaigns on them. So what is a blog? How do you use it? How do you set up your own? Glenn Stone answers these questions and more. Glenn has been keeping himself in peanut butter and jelly by explaining one form of Unix or other to freshmen, absent-minded professors, and, more recently, ordinary people since 1986. Along the way, he's been a kernel hacker, CORBA bus driver and technical journalist. Meeting locationHere's a map of the meeting location. Take Highway 405 and exit to go EAST at the NE 8th St. exit in downtown Bellevue. (That's the eastbound NE 8th St. exit, not the SE 8th St. exit.) Go approximately one quarter mile east on NE 8th St. and turn RIGHT on 120 Ave. NE. Go past the Home Depot store on your right and continue until the road begins to turn to the right (west). At this bend, continue straight and enter a driveway leading to a number of buildings. The first building on the right (west side) is 11911 NE 1st St. Drive to the back (south side) of this building and park. The entrance to the building is on the south side. Mosaic Technology is in Suite B 304 (third floor).
