Glenn Stone will be presenting a talk on LiveCD's. The world of bootable CD's that enable one to run in a Unix or Linux environment without using a hard drive is far more varied than is widely known about. Linux, in both full-house and miniature varieties, FreeBSD, Solaris, and even Minix are all available for the price of your bandwidth, and with the advent of OpenSolaris and Minix 3, each one is open source within the DSFG guidelines. We will explore the gamut, live and speaker-hands-on.
Glenn is a Senior Linux Systems Engineer and technical support lead for Pogo Linux. Beginning his Unix career with plain vanilla BSD 4.3 on a Pyramid in 1986, he has managed to keep himself in peanut butter and jelly ever since by typing at some sort of a shell prompt. He is also a recent draftee to SLUG's board.
